Got up @ 4:30, drove to Whakatane and she was glassy.
On the water @ 6:15 Paddled our to my new spot X in about 12m. Dropped a good one off the first cast.
Had a few kingi come check out the yak but the weren’t interested is taking anything, still cool to watch.

While distracted one reel went screaming and landed a nice 51cm fat snap. Got one more hi 30cm fish there, then Went dead for a while apart from a few baby KY. So paddled in close and threw a few softies into the wash and pulled out a nice low 40s fish.
Called it a morning at 8.
Lots of solo turns hitting bait fish all over the place all morning but no big workups.

On fishing styles, I'm normally just using softies, but thinking of giving slow Js a go or bottemships, anyone had much luck? Best when deeper or do they work alright in less than 15m too as that's about the depth I do most of my fishing.

Waylander when I fish with Allpom hes always doing well on those slow jigs. Micro jigs
work well especially in deeper water over sign.

Beernyarn still a good feed there. You guys got the pick of the conditions.

6am launch with Skonski. Was quite windy westerly and small surf. 1st hour nothing happening so we moved out.
Found sign and started catching snapper. Also got a JD and a nice Terakihi on softbait.
Came in just after 8AM and it had glassed out.
