Surf is up a bit but not too bad. I know Scotty is an expert in the waves so will be sweet ๐Ÿ˜

Dale will you try those softies before March when even a ballpoint pen will catch a snapper ๐Ÿ˜
Those batteries look good but I can buy 10 of the others for the same price and have a stack of 2nd hand ones.

The Rabbit Island launch is worth considering if the surf is up. Easy as and you can usually get a feed out the back. Not a long paddle either..

Scotty how did you get on ?

I did the Leisure Island launch with Allpom and Darren a couple of years ago. It was flat as on a day when it was big on the coast. Only problem was we got 1 kahawai between 3 of us ๐Ÿ˜‚

You want your high vis gear on for Rabbit Island launches, so much boat traffic about once you get out past the island.

I've considered paddling out to ' 3 mile' to an old spot I used to fish from the boat reef a few times from there, to target Tarakihi, but thats a loonnnng paddle. Wait for that e-yak Wink

Never had a problem fishing around Rabbit Is.(my local) with boat traffic & generally get a fed.Especially at change of light.
Great for JDs and the occasional carrot.
Caught a snapper pb there in March this year!   Easy launch either side of Leisure Is.

Got out first time in ages this morning, ended up out in front of Taylorโ€™s. On the water about 5 ish and binned up by 6:30. Went a bit quiet after that but very nice out! Stacks of sign and picked everything up on little jigs today. Nice to meet you out there cobra ๐Ÿ‘

Nice one 14foot. What depth did you find them in?

I'm going to try my luck tomorrow morning, around 5am launch off the domain.

Launched from Taylors this morning just before 6
Couple hits on softies but dropped them, then two big runs on the stray line with 2 70 cm kings released then went dead.
Beaut morning but poor fishing for me.

Bloody wind at a buoy is between 12-14 knots and maxing a 1.2m swell, so I will wait until 5:30 to leave the house and see what its like then.

I was in around 22 meters, I did flick softies and one of my home made flies around too but was only the jigs getting attention.

I pulled the pin, that northerly didn't really ease. Angry

Will try again tomorrow morning. Forecast looks better.

Nice, I've put on a micro jig, see if it still is working.
