Eastern BOP Kayak Fishing Club members are probably getting excited. Our Xmas fishing meet this weekend. Good luck to those who are on this forum.

Nice job Ray.

Started slow for me off Papamoa no fish for an hour and strong drift towards Mount Maunganui. I found a school but only had a minute or so each time I went through them. I picked up 4 pannies and a big one that took off like a Kingfish. I tried to get my other line in but that hooked up too. Managed to land the small one then concentrate on what I thought would be a Kingi but when I saw colour was stoked that it was a big snapper.
72cm and 15lb.

Good stuff Piwi! One of the snaps I caught pulled unreasonably hard for its size. I thought it was a Kingie (rat), and was pleasantly surprised when I saw some colour. Like you I found a patch and had to drift through it for each fish.

Thanks guys was pretty pumped to pull it in. As you guys know I'm not good at catching monsters and this is my 2nd biggest snapper. I think I've only caught 2 over 10lb this year.

Cam time to come out of retirement 😀

Gdog yeah thought I better weigh this one so only gutted the pannies. Got it on a lime tiger crazy legs. Hook was solid in middle of upper jaw. Took a while to lever it out.

An excellent weekend away for club members who could make it. With perfect conditions for the Saturday's fishing. Everyone catching fish with a few good ones amongst them. Congratulations to Garry Turner for taking out the Club Champion for 2020. Also congratulations to all the other prize winners on Saturday. Awesome venue (thanks Chris and Mary) , awesome fishing, great company, nice to see some new faces and fun had by all. Looking forward to next year. If you want to join us next year, join the Club. Cross fingers for no covid issues for the 2021 Eastern Bay of Plenty Kayak Fishing Clubs Competition coming up in May. Tight lines everyone.
