Cheers piwi! Having a good finder was needed today, pretty much zero drift so slow paddle to find then drop lures on top. It is pretty cool when you can watch the fish swim up as your lure drops, stop right on their nose and hook up πŸ‘

Hi guys. Just after some advice please. I've never used braid before and I want to get some for my Penn Fierce 2 8000ll on a Penn spinfisher 10 - 15 kg rod. I want to use it for
softbait jigging and also livies for snapper and kingies. I'll also want it to be able to cast reasonably well. I've been reading heaps on braid but still find it all a bit daunting. What do you think of this braid https://www.gofish.co.nz/gosen-w-light-green-hardtype-8-braid-150m-2-pe0242.html. or do you have any other suggestions. Cheers

Hi Rockman

Never used that braid before but any of the reputable brands( Black Magic, Shimano, Diawa, Berkley ) I think are good quality. And if you’re spooling an 8000 Size reel you will probably want more than 150m ? I use a 4500 size reel for my live baiting spooled with Black Magic rainbow braid 50lb and it seems up to the task caught some big fish on it

Thanks Museyak. I'll have a look at that. I was thinking of filling the first part of reel with mono and then adding the 150m of braid, or is that still not enough? I won't be fishing water deeper than 60 meters. Would a good size kingi pull out that much you reckon?

Hey Museyak I've just had a look at that BM braid. Think I'll go with that. Sounds like what I'm looking for. Coloured for depths and 300 metres only extra 9 bux. Thanks for the heads up 😁

Wow! Nice fish! 😲 Ah yea I'll have to look at specs for reel, see how much it will hold and if I need to put mono on first. I heard it's better to have some mono under the braid to stop it slipping??

Muse nice that photo never gets old 😁

Rockman check out Kaveman tackle. He has Tasline braid. A good dude who supports us on here in our comps etc.
Also for softbaiting 6-10kg rod and 4000 reel is plenty big enough.

Cheers PK. I'll look him up. Yea I realise my rod is a bit of an overkill lol. I'm looking at getting a lighter one. Is 4 - 8 kg with a 4000 all good in your opinion?

Yeah softbaiting is all about feel and a light rod and reel are best.
You can go as small as a 2500 reel. 4-8kg is good for a rod. You can get Okuma Xfactors for $90 off marine deals 7ft 2 piece 6-10kg.
