I've been trialling JOF 8 strand braid. So far so good. My only observation is that it's very thin, even thinner than Shimano Kairiki. A good thing, but next time, I'll order the next breaking strain up as a little insurance.

The initial winding on is where I have had the dye issue, once used a couple times it goes away.   Just cannot see how stores justify their prices.

Its a hobby and loose a fish or 2 so be it. The cost boat ownership, fuel etc just makes sense to me.as I am not gaming fishing just finding a feed. If I was in to gamefishing different story.

Dye was the other thing, but I'd read about that prior to ordering and went for the "Gray" colour. I guessed that was the undyed colour of the product and so far so good.

A tip about breaking braid when snagged.  I have a 250mm section of 20mm diameter timber dowell on board. Over this I have stretched some bicycle tube.  This will grip the braid.  When snagged wrap the braid around the dowell 5 or 6 times without overlapping the wraps.  Hold tight and drive off.

Sometimes you get lucky and may only lose a hook or sinker with no loss of braid.  If you cut it there's no chance of getting lucky.
If you're fishing shallow, you may not have to drive off.  Pull up tight on the braid, take the wraps and pull.  The low stretch of the braid helps.

When I've applied the method described by Fish Addict, I have recovered most if not all the braid. For some reason I've always had it break off at the knot. I like that because it means less braid floating around.

It would only be 4-6 times though, so not a big sample.
