Here is a little something we have developed in the tropics for mahi, yellowfin and others given that real arrow squid are hard to get most of the time. Cast, jig or troll. Snapper & Kings like them too.

4 body colours including full glow in the dark. 75 gm rigging head and hook slides up inside the bait with the rear end of the rig body extra weighted to avoid tumbling, or excess fluttering when you cast or jig them. 316 stainless wire form is through and though with returns on each end and the hook is connected direct. No split ring.

Slide off old arrow squid, reload a new one in seconds and your back in the game.

Sweet looking little critter there Steve. Bet flicking them out around the FADs would be an interesting experience! :-)

Cheers mate,
Stu.

They are perfect for that Stu, or when you come across something floating, like a big coconut tree log. Anything with a shadow pulls up the boat every time and brings out the light tackle. Mahi will travel fast to these and are quick to try and put an end to what they think is the real thing.

FYI, the 8 kg fly tippet world record on blue marl;in was broken here recently by US angler Tom Evans. Great effort. Fish weighed 144.4 kg.
