Bloody great shop that is Doug. Good selection of lure skirts as well for those who wish to reskirt lure or two. Guy who owns it even recommended a great restaurant for lunch last time we were in there this year. Fishes up in Canada for giant bluefin as well … legend.

But have been wearing my free WHM hat a lot. You have some awesome marine and fishing businesses up there. Bloody good draw cards for Whangarei , both of them Warren Hay and Saltwater Connection. That big H&F also very good shop. Support all of them I say. Lots of our better smaller shops down Auckland now gone. Really miss Go-fish.

Nice one, Krow.
It's definitely a great store. I stopped in there on the way up for my annual Far North trip and bought a new chilly bin at a great price (the blue ones). I had seen the shop mentioned in a thread on the forum about recommended bins.

Good call, Shane. Greg at Go Fish is a good bloke, I think he still has an online store. The folk at Big Fish in Pakuranga are my local equivalent.
I mostly get my softbaits and jigheads from overseas (for the variety and also the price) but usually spend locally on rods and reels. The Big Fish crew did a nice job fixing a broken rod tip guide, and servicing my reels, replacing line roller bearings etc. It's worth going in there just for the amazing fish taxidermy on the walls.

Yep, Saltwater Connection is a good shop. I've had great service from them in the past. They replaced a rod which snapped unexpectedly with no hassle. I've also noticed prices come down over the years (or everyone else's prices go up!). I'm an essential worker, so may have to swing by Smile
