Got 11 gurnard and 4 crays. What the pic doesn't show is the small mountain of cuda and spiny dogs I had to plow thru.
Nor my wet clothes after pushing the boat out thru the surf - 12 deg water. Soaked - took a couple of hrs to warm up.
Sea has been too big for launching for near a month.
Thats winter fishing done for me.
Warmer climate next w/end. Next pic will be of tropical fish.

Mahi in 24 deg water beats gurnard in 12 deg water.
But first catch the mahi.Sashimi will do in the interim.
Prob take me a week or two to sort a whole lot of stuff out, before I get the boat in. All my game reels have no line on them. I empty the spools now when they are stored away. Restring new leaders also. Boat needs checking over etc. Lots of domestic chores await, for sure.

That is a tantalisingly sexy bit of leg showing there mate, sans the jandal probably would be more
suited to "catch of the day" providing it managed to sneak past the mods & in particular the ever
vigilant Mr. Smudge.

Bazza - I'm glad I am not sharing that tent with you. Not even interested in the crays - just my leg.

Hehe that's one of the funniest post I've seen in a while Bazza, well done. Should I ban Alan L for his discrete but effective soft porn post? Nah, I'll let him off this time. Enjoy the warm weather, Alan but we want to see mahimahi pics!

I'll do my best Smudge. But last yr proved diabolical. Hopefully better this yr.
I am def over this cold weather/water, launching in surf. I'm taking my Gold Card for an o/seas trip - pair of shorts, no shirt, no surf launch. Big fish........ hopefully.

I am sure had the bunion on his hidden foot been on show then you would have had no other choice than to ban him !!!!

Got to admire the guy who is gurnard fishing one day and planning a tropical adventure the next. That is very cool Alan and I hope you have a blast.

Bazza, that is a very disturbing thought. Big smile

Like a bunch of people here, I live to fish - these days. Spent a large part of my life giving that stuff up - getting set to retire.
Got out y/day for first time in a month. Only 2 boats got out. Nothing for weeks previous.
Only boat out today (mine). Gave all y/days fish away - knew today was possible. Will keep a couple of fish and a cray. Rest will find homes.
Best way to spend the day, when it is possible.
I find the winters tough these days and another world awaits - 3 hr flight away. Start another summer. And more fishing adventures.

Good luck Alan. I too spend less time winter fishing but mostly because I have a new found interest in shooting (well new found as in 15 years of it but it has recently spiralled out of control) especially over the last couple of years. I think fishing will always be my true calling though. Looking forward to the reports
