Here we go! The Franklin Hunting & Fishing Grunter Hunter is all go. This year the big day is June 5th. We will have a 'How To' session in the Franklin H&F store on May 21st from opening time. Tickets will be on sale sometime next week.

$3000 1st prize and we have some seriously good prizes for the minor placings. $500 for the average weight fish, lucky draws and a very nice prize for a raffle or two.

Based at Te Toro on the Manukau Harbour, it's BYO though and make sure you have a sober driver.

This is a gurnard only competition and is limited to the harbour and Auckland's west coast

Grunter Hunter Tickets are now available on line:

www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/199134?fbclid=IwAR0O8rJkFIEip3-xmX_l4fVWARcEVJCz1Skx1QmYgrwK0vw9loFX1kntVJ0

Tickets are also on sale at Franklin Hunting & Fishing from midday Friday 13 May. While you are there, get your supplies! My recommendations are 4/0 recurve hooks, or Gurnard Grabber and Tarakihi Terror flasher rigs. Pick up some bonito and mullet bait while you're there and a couple of bags of burley. A reminder that we will be having a 'how to' session on May 21st at the store. You know, the big one in Pukekohe. Matt, Chad, Dave and the rest of the staff will point you in the right direction if you miss our gurnard secrets lesson 🙂

Tomorrow, Saturday 21st we're having an in store 'How To' session on catching gurnard at Franklin Hunting & Fishing in Pukekohe from 9am. We're busy preparing for our annual Grunter Hunter event on June 5. Tickets are available at the store or on line at csfc.co.nz. The weather's going to be **** so why not call in and talk fishing for an hour or two! We'll stick around for most of the day.

There's a lot of interest in the Franklin H&F Grunter Hunter this year. Ticket sales are strong, the fish are in the harbour & the weather's looking good. Tickets aren't for sale on the day and close off online at 9pm Friday 3rd. Franklin H&F stop selling them at 4pm Saturday 4th June. The prizes are even better this year. There's a food truck and raffles (bring some cash - you won't be disappointed) You can fish the Manukau harbour, the west coast from north Waikato head to South Kaipara head - just make sure you are in the queue by 4pm at the Green Shed at Te Toro. Who will win it? Me (I doubt that very much Smudge) another junior? Another surfcaster? A kayaker? A boatie? They all have a chance (except for you Smudge).
