I have bought a new (to me) 250 Honda off a dealer but they are that busy at the moment I’d have to wait weeks to get it installed. I am going to de rig my current motor and then have them lift if off and bolt the new one on for me and have a crack at the rest myself. Just wondering if anyone who has any experience who might be able to help. It has a Garmin display and digital controls. Happy to pay in $$ beers, fishing trips or whatever.

Im no professional, have done several outboards over the yrs.
Mounting is easy.. engine hoist.. and 2 ppl to put bolts thru as arms are not long enough to reach from outside to inside the transom...pods yep are...
Its a damn sight easier than dropping a 4 cylinder ford into a cortina...and aligning splines.
Wiring.. well that pretty much plug and play...most cases only X plugs fit X and Y  fit Y....uses the (usually provided) the silcone gel stuff in the plugs.
Choose control positions at helm carefully..

Its one of those jobs that initially look / feel bit intimidating at 1st.. then when get into it, methodically, stage by stage, follow instructions becomes a non event.

Once have everything set up its just getting everything to talk to each other...

Where you based Raging Bull, know someone who might come and help you for a few bottles of rum. Has been an outboard mechanic, and we call him Yetee  for a reason.. could be handy mounting a big donk, could possibly lift one on by himself.
