If I dug thru my computer files I could show you a pic with ust the seat sticking out of the drink.
I don't know how they managed this one. I scratch my head.
My take on it, after 30 yrs of this stuff.............
You can't fix STUPID.
As Tzer posted - they offer tractor driving instructions - and no one bothers. I guess they all think they know enough....until.
What I think happens is all rational thought goes out the window in the 7-10 day holiday period. Got to get the boat in - whatever.
Don't bother checking if plugged in to chargers, we are off to launch.  Don't bother taking your time, or the longer route, got to get the boat launched. Don't bother there is no key in the tractor (may be a reason), find something that will make it start.
Don't bother working out how to deal with the boat in surf and get tractor back on beach - just leave it in the drink and go fishing.
Yes - it is a headache trying to run gear for people like that. So, like KAndrew, I washed my hands  a couple of yrs ago.
You can't fix STUPID.

I used to do tractor training at our club and you can tell the people that should never drive a tractor, god knows how they manage to drive a car. One of the problems I came across a lot is the amount of people that can’t drive a manual. That’s why you have to limit the amount of throttle on the tractor, people will get run over and badly hurt.

I had this guy come to training, he said I’m a farmer I’ve driven more tractors than you have seen. When it was his time to drive he put the thing into gear pulled the throttle nearly to full, dropped the clutch and the tractor did a handstand and rolled over backwards. He was really lucky it had a roll cage, then he climbed off and said there was something wrong with the clutch, I told him to F—K OFF and not come back.

Problem is people think tractors can go anywhere and they can’t, they are actually quite unstable, heavy and only really like flat ground. I’ve seen guy’s back them in so deep the back wheels are submerged the carb has sucked up a guts full of sea water motor is full of water as well. Still had a boat on the back, then he asks for help!!! I said what do you want me to do go call a Crane.

Seen this guy one day came up off the beach going way too fast, up over the kerb and on to the road, boat wasn’t tied down and it bounced up off the trailer and landed on the road.

Go sit at your local boat ramp and see the carnage there, then add a tractor that they can’t drive.

Heres couple pics of recent refurbished club tractor, both club tractors have long drawbars so your launching by pushing trailer in and not backing it down. Takes a little bit of getting use to going forward but works well for our club and although we dont beach launch the ramp where we launch is into a channel at low tide but at high tide tractors are on concrete ramp.
If anyone interested heres link to clubs live feed camera, its also good for stalking your mates when they dont invite you fishing, works well too when catching them out when ramp mishap happens and they're hoping no one watching.

I think it would be fair to say that I would fall into the need training group.  The only time I have attempted to drive a tractor would have been around 1967.  I was staying on a dairy farm owned by a school mate's family.  He, his father and I were in a paddock some distance away from one another and they shouted out for me to drive the tractor over to them.  After getting up on the tractor a series of long range discussions followed about how this tractor was started.  Push the silver button was the advice.  No go.  DOH.  I soon found out that the silver button I was pushing was the cigarette lighter.

Tzer - you got your rear wheels on backwards. But you knew that.  Is that because you are reversing back up a slope on your ramp?
Nice job on the tractors.
Not sure the front drawbar will work for us. I am sure the driver of our above tractor would not manage. But we can have quite a distance to go down the beach and various obstacles
to negotiate. What could go wrong?
