I would hit into the middle of the  'flats.. big drift with strayines on light gear, and burley hanging on thin rope  off the stern just off , even bounce a little across the sea bed.
Waiheke channel will be calm , but general crap fishing , thu drift the the shallow bays or around the inside of pakatoa  in 2 to 5m water.
Dont go dropping sinkers in the boat.. be like a kayak..
Thinking more of Sunday rock, have done well at this time of yr,1hr either side of high,The flats should be starting to get life now.

I tried to get Sunday rock to work for yrs , caught a couple KY there and on the edge of the park often boil up there..
Flats work when the temps are  X degs above the temp outside the island by Y degrees going back over decade or so of logs.
Best fishing bottom end is evening, come home in the dark, and when car parks are MT
Also means best parking on busy days.. early birds come home as u hit the ramp, leaving their close parking for you.Wink

Ther was a member here some yrs back , fish bottom end/ shollows on a regular basis...
 Help me Smudge..
Then moved up nth. wangroa ??
Go back read his reports.. a huge mine of info over many many yrs....I learnt so much off him in a very short length time.
A forum search on " air rifle/rabbits "may come up with him..

at the current temp be lucky if  get up

 nothing to do with luck

" luck is directly proportional to the effort put in."

Its the temp difference, not the actual temp...well thats what my logs indicate over many yrs.... taking data , logging ="effort"  doing so over many years , even more effort.
