It does have whalers on it. I've been boxing concrete structures for over 25yrs, never had one blow. The form ply on the inside of the chimney is not directly braced. Divi's weren't required, nor did I want to have to render the holes left behind.

Sorry Kinto. I was replying to Alan’s dodgy Formwork photo. You did a great job and it’s obvious you know what your doing as I said the strops were a great idea.

All good, I seen badly done formwork give way under the pressure and witness the blame game begin. It's a messy job to clean up and burns up time and money.

Yep - we had some blow outs on the tree branch technique. You should have seen the scaffolding. OSH would not approve.
I knew I was in for an interesting ride when the 'builder' turned up and asked what tools I had. ???

Laid the fire bricks this morning, lit the first fire afterwards to cure the bonding mortar. Plenty of draw on the chimney which was good to see.

There is a lot of thought gone into that structure.
