Hi All, Iv'e been a bit slack lately on the catch reports. Had a great morning with brother Mick today, time to hit the keyboard. We both took the day off as there hasn't been alot of chances to fish out west lately. Hit the water at 7.30 a.m to a freezing off shore wind
Temperature near zero we huddled in close first
to catch bait on our Sabiki's. 7mm Wetsuits, layers, jackets, belaclava's the cold was still getting through. Around 9am we headed out to our Snapper spot armed with the goods
. Out the Straylines went with Fresh Kahawai & Kopopa's. Wasn't long before Mick was in to a nice 5kg model which went in the bin. Then all hell broke loose, it was like a big school of Snaps decided to camp under the little Mac boat for the next three hours
We literally went from rod to rod playing in Snaps and rebaiting until we had no bait left. we let go alot more than we kept with numerous around 20lb and bigger. Most we kept were 4-5 kg models with the bigger two I'm holding in photo gut & gill hooked were buggered. One Mick hooked in particular got us excited as it was a whopper but dropped after a few minutes playing. Also caught a never seen before Snapper tail! It had extra long tassle like bits growing from curve in tail. After we ran out of bait we headed in around 1p.m. A couple of Photo's The cold start to morning. myself with two nice ones and the funny tailed fish before releasing.
