It needs to be exactly set up for the motor. I had one of those once, it was a bit finicky. Have a good play with it before you give up.

Thanks, but it's probably too unreliable. There must be a more reliable one available. Any ideas/suggestions?

Borrowed the 45l tank from Burnsco on Friday afternoon and played around with it on Saturday. No dice - too long - I'll need to grind a notch out of the SS floor; and a shade too high - interferes with the engine steering cable etc.
Back to the drawing board....

Which one did you pick up, there’s a low and tall profile 45 litre tank, the low profile tank has a bigger footprint. The tall tank might be better.

They do a 34 litre as well which might fit better

Hi Kandrew,
I tried the 45l tall. The 45l short has a larger footprint. The 34l also has a v similar footprint. Looking on Trademe, I see there are many different makes out there - confusing.  At the moment, I'm leaning towards the 45l aluminium custom tank.

Tiny tach have a good rep. I don't know if they do an hour meter; I just used mine for setting up the prop on mine.

Best option is to keep a log. Or ignore the hours and just get it serviced yearly.

Raised marine ply platform seems like a good idea.
Thoughts?

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but has anyone purchased a cover for the 4200 center console that fits well?

Our local club just purchased a smartwave 4200 CC and we need a cover for the boat as it will be stored outside. We got a quote from a local trimmer, and they wanted over $3k 😳

Not hijacking it in the least. Anything Smartwave is welcome here.

As for a cover, my boat sleeps in my garage. (Previously I owned a trailer sailer and the cover was essential - helps keep the harsh NZ sun at bay & got me a good price when I sold).

If your's is sleeping outside, a cover is needed. $3k sounds about right, me thinks?

you might be able to use a couple of plastic chopping board glued together. I brought some large chopping boards from the warehouse about 10mm thick and cheaper then plywood.

The only thing with the larger tank is the weight in the bum, They seem to bury their arses with just the standard tank, A permatrim would  help. Would it not be easier to just have another 23ltr in the console.

Thanks for the comments.
I've had a second quote for an aluminium custom tank - more expensive than the first. So have decided on the Sceptre 45l tall tank on a shelf. Will investigate the Warehouse option.
