Have a rod that needed a couple of new guides. Not as easy as you’d think as nice offshore game rod, older model with perfection stainless guides. Took to hunting and fishing who weren’t confident to do, so gave it back to me after week or so. .. at least we’re honest about not having appropriate guides or tread to do quality job.
Anyway know few rod builders, unfortunately usual option would be Greg Hill Gofish no longer available as retail option,who rebuilt a rod for me last year and made an awesome job, and not sure want to bother him now. Probably enjoying well deserved relaxation somewhere.
Anyway deal was from my other rod builder friend I know was “Easy to do if you get the guides and thread”
So went to marine deals, got guides I needed and thread needed, thanks to Steve Campbell. Felt bad as shop was busy but took his time like a true professional in spite of queue behind me. And I also knew getting advice on the guides and friendly banter from one of best marlin fishos on planet was a privilege. Thanks Steve, and thanks marine deals was a great help to me. Not many guides left though in the inventory, will buy more if you can get em. But service and talking to Steve for brief while was awesome. Made my day.
