Yep, I have tried (on a few different occasions) to get them feeding on bread crumbs, bran, and crushed corn flakes. The greys showed no reaction to the food whatsoever. Yelloweyes (sprats) were on to it pretty quickly. Fly fishing at least catches a few (and is a whole lot less boring). The main mullet species they catch on bread in the UK is a different species (thick-lipped mullet) which we don't have.

The road side ditches around Hoods Landing toward the mouth of the Waikato river can get quite a few grey mullet at times. As does the Waikato River

That's pretty neat Fishman, a couple of us were out shooting canada's 2 weeks ago around the Kawhia harbour, one of the little bays has a tiny fresh water stream running into it, we passed by at high tide and there was a mighty school of mullet congregated where the stream hit the sea water, looks like we will have to pack even more gear on these pest destruction trips, Thumbs Up

We managed to bowl 50 canada's

Cheers
The only bar to frequent is the Kawhia Bar
