Left handed so options in reels are limited. Will be using in mostly 50-100m off Canterbury and Kaikoura targeting whatever bites. Mostly cod and perch though the odd grouper is not impossible. 11kg drag thinking 30lb braid and slow pitch jigs/ inchikus/ squid wings. Maybe some shallow water baiting and trolling though this is not the intent.

What’s a good slow jig rod at about the $300 mark? I have some hunting and fishing vouchers ($200) so it needs to be available there.

A bit over your budget but Jigstar Slow Jerk Acid... Pe1.5-3 probably ok, but I'd consider the PE4-6 if you're going to bait fish with it too.

Cheers. I don't mind going above or below the budget. Guideline really, no more.

I'd probably go lighter for slow pitch. Will be using 30lb braid. I have a (Lipstick) Uglystick ladies model  that will take over bait duties if need be.

Actually the Okuma Metaloid Acid Wrap looks to be exceptionally good value as well, I've never had a fondle of one though.
