These are rare as hens teeth these days mate.......you would stand more chance of finding a 4000P......But hey you might get lucky with someone hoarding one in their cupboard ! ....Good luck but i will never be selling mine!....Caught some great fish on it.
I stuck a Jm Ball knob on it and loved it......carbontex and cals plate as well......even more rare now(since they stopped making the plates.)Wink

I’m thinking 500-600 depend on condition. There are three mint ones available in Japan that I can get my hands on at the cost of 600 including postage. Cheers

Thanks for offering both reels. I’m after the 5000p, I have a new model 4000 already. I’ll wait a bit, if no luck will source it from overseas. Thanks a lot again :)

Thats a good deal there broWink....how longs the warranty?
The drag washers are crap(unless they have sorted this issue out)....You will need to upgrade to carbontex.......i upgraded mine without even using the reel.....the original ones disintegrate really quickly(unless this has been sorted by shimano) ...what you really want is the drag upgrade with cal plate and cals smooooth carbontex drag washers....they stopped making the cals plate some time ago....so ask about the drag ...has it been upgraded? its worth it !

Time will tell though I picked up a new 4000 2020 model earlier this year and landed a few fish up to 20kg , drag is exactly what it says on the box 18kg and very smooth up until now.

They gave up on the original "Dartanium" drag years ago, now it's all "Dartanium 2" which is functionally identical to Carbontex. But I don't know if they were even still making the "classic" OJ 5000 after the change-over, or if the reels people are finding are all new-old-stock.

The new 2020 4000P is nothing like the old one either.

Thanks for that info Roz......I had a gut feeling they had changed the design somewhat...........True 4000P were around in abundance.....5000P...were few and far between even at their height...I knew a few people with them but not many.Wink

I've had a 5000p for years. Loved it but my father poached it and I'm still a little sore about that.
