I'm closing down all of the Covid threads and Political nonsense that's going on. I'll allow any relevant questions on how they covid restrictions will affect us with regard to fishing and that's it.

Well, well, well, smudge, you let this political / covid threads  roll for the last 5/6 odd months. One person complained about the fact, THAT, this was a fishing site recently. Well covid does affect our ability to fish hence the reason this discussion took off. This is just what happens with humans. Whilst I endorse fishing to be really therapeutic I also endorse well thought out discussions to be the same. The fisher persons on this site do have our future at heart /fishing /politics. Was quite democratic to be able to incorporate our future that affects our fishing on this site.
Now you seem to of had a change of heart. What was so bad that those good fisher persons who contribute so much to this site are no longer allowed to voice their opinions on covid, which does without talking about fishing, affect our ability to do so ?If you get this ****, (covid), you are not going to go fishing either.
You can ban me if you like, I do not give a monkeys toss, I say it like it is. Love fishing / love life more , not a frigging sofa man by a long shot .

Like it or not covid is very real. People feel the need to talk and even vent about it. Even some fisherfolk do. And now as the useful idiots extend level 3 lockdown more lives devastated ,jobs ,business will be lost.
People will talk about it,just not on here .
And that is not a criticism of your decision smudge, which i respect, but personally think the discussion could have remained in some form.

Hook it and others,

Hook it you were reasonable until what should of been your last paragraph.
That paragraph is a reasonable disruptive commentary that's not needed.
It is tough to not air everything.
I recommend re- reading your post before posting.
I use my own formula by re- reading posts so as not to be to embarrassed by smelling mistakes. Works most of the time and allows me to take the heat out of throwing my fescues randomly.

Others reasonable responses.

I'm not sure yet why the moderator closed these discussions.

Individuals did cloud and abuse there options to be forthright in there opinions.

I would suggest that the moderator remove individual commentary and read the continuity of the conversation.

Airing opinions and views is valid.
Within boundaries.
Enforce the boundaries.
This would be a better answer then stopping frustrated and raw opinions in a challenging environment.

Now as the moderators as I assume are not paid professionals (give them a better licence to do what is a passion for them. - fishing related topics by the way).

So I ask the mods and the posters to spend more time being fruitful, balanced and respectful to improve the outcomes of forthright , necessary and valid opinionsthT allow challenging and current subjects to be aired.

That's my two pee.

It might be a good time to rethink that formula Mattoo. Big smile

Hook-it it's like this, we don't need a whole lot of different topics to tell us what a bad job the government/opposition/'murica/ Australia/media/greenies etc etc have done. Apart from my own personal view that this is primarily a fishing site and not a political forum, I've just had far too many messages not just one - trust me - heaps and heaps0 from friends who I know and trust tell me how sick they are of some of this stuff. There is a topic still going in the politics forum. Use that. I'm not suggested you're a lounge chair fisherman at all. I do my fair share myself and I'm not doing this job because I don't actually get out there and do it myself. Thanks for your contributions, keep it to fishing mostly, keep it respectful and you will have no problem with me Big smile
