Yeah holiday what is one of them again?

As for today, well the science and medical experts have been saying close the border since we got mutant strains.

I am all for it until the jabs are rolled out.
Let’s just keep the country working, no more lockdowns.

Close borders is a big call though. Not saying they shouldn't do it. No Am Cup, no MMA no league, football or rugby and that's just sports no lots of things. All those things have helped with our recovery but yeah

Well if it’s killing 1000s in the US, UK etc then we should just do it.
My friends and family in the UK are lamenting the fact they did not shut borders over summer now.

If the jabs are not far off then just take life as it is here without the flights coming in and risking more jobs and costing us billions.

Smudge i think you are forgetting we won't have any or many of those anyway given the rest of the world... (after this week) I mean even the wiggles couldn't get in.
If we do get covid back in the country there goes all local and inter regional sport within NZ for yet another winter season, no doubt a fair few sporting clubs would go under plus think about the kids Smudge, think about the kids!
Maybe this will give our government the kick it needed to get some vaccinations coming.... I mean they did tell us we would be at the front of the cue right Confused

People who have received a Covid-19 vaccine could still pass the virus on to others and should continue following lockdown rules, England's deputy chief medical officer has warned.

"Even after you have had both doses of the vaccine you may still give Covid-19 to someone else and the chains of transmission will then continue," Prof Van-Tam said.

"If you change your behaviour you could still be spreading the virus, keeping the number of cases high and putting others at risk who also need their vaccine but are further down the queue."

That is why it is not a vaccine it is merely a flu jab.

Deacs is spot on and it was my point. We have decided not to live with it and now the issues arise over expectations.
When Jacinda decided on eradication this was inevitable. People like the freedom it’s better without COVID but now the problems of opening up to the rest of the world and the viral mutation are as clear as we warned back in the previous lockdown.

What will the cost be to Northland??

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/435104/covid-community-case-northland-businesses-face-anxious-wait

The Northland Chamber of Commerce predicted hundreds of staff won't come into work today after the 56-year-old woman visited about 30 locations across lower Northland and north Auckland.
Countdown general manager of safety Kiri Hannifin said staff working at its Countdown Helensville and FreshChoice Ruakaka stores when the woman visited would stay home until they got a negative test.

It's coming. They've set the precedent. Notice how they said the pupils and close contacts were told to self isolate and get a test. Not whether they actually did those things. Telling and doing are two different things.
Why choose either diving or fishing when you can do both. Besides crayfish tail is very good bait!!

Totally agree.
Not a fan of bridges but his recent comments on police commander.. in particular the part about keeping all the others happy with this continuous "education" rather than enforcement BS sort of hits the nail on the head.

They could not find, regardless of numerous attempts at communication one of the people.
Now If that person had just done an armed robbery, and hurt someone...would finding be out different.
And to put that into perspective..this person by not responding, carrying on as normal has 'assaulted, put at serious risk many more than a armed robbery. And cost this country and its citizens far more than an armed robbery at the local dairy.

Bridgers has a point and the wet bus ticket approach goes far further than just policing.

We just have to take a look at offical statements of Bloomfrieild And Arden

Bloomfield did not think the family at the center of the latest case were deliberately trying to evade authorities but nonetheless it was

"frustrating" contact tracers hadn't been able to speak to the family and ensure they were tested for 10 days.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told ZM......
"We will be doing some doorknocking over these next coming days with any of these students who don't have their second test just to make sure."

"Of course, we had protections in place. Those who were meant to be tested were meant to be at home.

"Obviously, we are relying on people following through on the guidance and the instructions that we give."

"Unfortunately, in this case, that guidance [and] instruction wasn't followed."

Really as if that was not going to eventually happen, as if Kiwis are the exception to 1000s of yrs of human behavour, be it a minority...be it a plague, whatever..

Hind sight is great after something quite predictable like  no consequences to majorly serous issues like this.

How woke politicians think is though.
And they are so very predictable.
