Fi Glass quite tender, also look through the hull into sunshine, they appear quite thin.
Can see sunshine thru an old school Sea nymph to . Being able to see light thu is definitely no way to establish gel coat and hull thickness... or establish construction design reliability

Possibly, but this comment was made to me by a boat builder, in trade, no axe to grind. More noticeable on that model .

I was out on an 80 foot fiberglass launch, I could see daylight through it when down in the front where the bunks were..oracle I think it was.
you can't fix an idiot with duct tape, but it does muffle them for a while...

We used to build fiberglass molds, often 3/4" thick  for large luxury bus fronts and such.. If we did not use a black gel coat behind the 1st clear clear gelcoat.. when outside we could se the daylight thru them.
And these also have substantial timber and steel bracing for nil flex.

Not only that we also made clear.. well opace custom "privacy screens " glas a by nature is clear, resin by nature is clearish.
Resin if filled out (and weaken to a certain extent with fillers, talcum powered etc ) then becomes not able to see thru .. in simple terms a automotive filler bog.
