Joker racing a Stabi 1850/Yamaha 115 at 43mph

You can see why they are such a dry boat - the spray breaks well towards the rear and doesn't get blown into the boat.

and a few seconds later.

If you got touched by spray in those conditions you would have grounds to take the boat builder to the cleaners.

Thats a nice riding profile .. that bow wake well back, sitting reasonable flat..
And shows that bow angle where going to hit chop at slower speeds steeper like old school sea boats.
42 mph for boat that size well powered for chop
small wake means more power to move the boat rather than create a wave..

Classic pic of all about what is right.

Its got plenty of lift and bouyancy upfront too which is great for bar conditions where you want to go over rather than through and potentially broach. The extended chines certainly help in preventing chine walking at speed giving 4 points of stability even though there is less of them in the water in this pic.

The upfront 200kg ballast tank when filled turns a typical alloy boat into an old school heavy glass boat when pounding into a messy head on sea. Its like having another couple of heavy blokes on board.

Would like to see if it chine walks up around the 46/48 mph..??
the old school commander (similar hull) with full Bimini up will start around the 46 mph.. really watching the water ahead for slightest ripple at 48/50 mph.
At the end of the day we dont do these sorts of things very often...usually when a smart A  catches up and as passing does a bit of a show off passing an old boat..
give them enough distance their wake doesnt cross line of direct and go to enough speed to catch up fast.. get level then more speed.. even then not full out.. and leave them behind like you have..
breaks a long trip home for a few minutesBig smile... and certainly see the result in extra gas when fill up for the next trip...Cry
