OK will send you what I have sometime after when I get back after Fri. But basically;
I just sit at some serious depth (no point testing it in moderate water if you want serious depth performance), and fiddle with every parameter in the menu to see if it gets an improved result. Takes a while.

OK - settings for sonar. Not sure if all these will be applicable to other head units;
Freq 50kHz.
Bottom Lock (essential for detail in fish sign). Mine is a split screen with the whole column also. I would delete this option - if I could - and just use BL. But it won't let me.
Colour palette #1. This helps with the clarity - the fish sign shows up on a white screen as deep blue spots/lumps.
Colourline 76% - as above.
Noise rejection - Medium.
Surface Clarity - Low
Scroll Speed - normal
Ping Speed - Max
Fishing mode - deep water
And make sure it knows what transducer model you have.

Thanks alan
BTW you can change the width of the split so the bottom lock is wider view. Just don't ask me to remember how.
