To me for decades.

Overseas pitchbaiting has been common for me dead or alive.

Put twenty squid and macs and skipjack belly flaps together last season.
Sadly they never got out the freezer.

Thanks Al.
Just cruising in my now sweetas pimped out Southern 755 HT0!

Still love a "mayor island rig" for a skip or pitch bait. Never tried to rig a squid that way tho. More Kahawai, skippys, f fish, mullet, and big jacks. Not the most "ethical" way to fish nowadays, but has one hell of a hook up rate,

We do a lot of deadbait trolling and a squid is my least favorite bait by a sizable margin. They have an uncanny knack of fowling on the hook in anything other than flat calm conditions. This is even more noticeable when rigging with a circle hook out the front of the bait.
