So I was wondering if others plan there goals ahead for the coming season.
For me yes.

So I was intrigued to see what others goals where that they thought were there must have dreams realised and what were they putting in place to achieve them.
Just cruising in my now sweetas pimped out Southern 755 HT0!

Got a mate who’s been coming out with me for years but always skips the days we catch them. Really want to get him one this year.

Also have to just get out more!

I guess the first plan though, after not getting one last season, will be to find my mojo!

If the opportunity arises (mostly around SSTs) my goal is just to go tow a spread of lures out off Wellington's west coast.

Based on the water temperatures and baitfish we have seen in the last couple of years, there are bound to be a few stickfaces lurking around.

Well I have a few goals myself.

My priorities are to help anyway I can to help some friends achieve their goals.

I'd also like to complete my own goals as the last fish I've never caught which is a broadbill.

I've managed to complete my bucket list to the point of this fish in the last few years.
Making my list NZ only has been a challenge.
I thought the hardest was going to be the shortbill as I've spent to many stupid hours trying.

So my list is exciting for me, I'm actually more excited for my friends achieving there goals.
Age is my friend of enjoyment.

The last fish for me may take years, age is against me but I'll keep trying.
That's the challenge and enjoyment right.
Well it is for me.

Not caught a black marlin so would like to do that. And also catch a marlin with my Suzuki outboard, which seems to make catching blue and striped marlin trolling near impossible .. luckily caught a few of those already.
So maybe I'll concentrate on live baiting a NZ black marlin this year... and save fuel trolling round ocean as well. Fishing cleaner and greener.
Also keen to target puka and more tarakihi out on deeper grounds rather than continue to troll endlessly for hours. Because those fish taste great and nice change from snapper and gurnard

I would just like to catch a couple of marlin. Ive caught one solo, so done that.

Ive caught a short billed spear fish too.

I would like to have a go at a broadbill. Finding the time and someone to fish with is the issue for me. Im not sure that having a go at a broad bill on your own is a good idea. From what ive seen on the net they can be quite problematic once at the boat.

That is cool i reckon.
The first day on the water after the " long tow" to have a crack at a Northland marlin it was bloody rough and i was seasick as. Then i heard about this... same day

I thought it must of been caught out of a launch, but no it was out of a 6m boat like what i have. I will never forget it.

Secretly i would love to do the same.
