Marlin caught by the boat load today. I literally can't keep up with the reports coming in. In 10 minutes I'm off to weigh what has been reported as a black marlin

Got a nice stripey yesterday off the Manukau in 140m, 22.1 deg water at about 1pm. It came in and had a chew on the teaser then turned and hit the long corner but no hookup. It crossed over and popped the short rigger but still no hookup! it was then very pissed and smashed the long rigger hard and the hook set solidly. Got it boatside on the leader in about 15 mins but it was still real green and took off again. Got it on the leader again after 25 mins and released it. First time seeing a marlin for 3 of the crew - epic day had by all.

Nice, we found 22.4 degrees on Saturday right on front of the bar in 67m. We spent 45 mins hooked up there but then it just swam away. Judging by the state of the trace it was bill wrapped. Got a few nice albies so a good day in all

Busy weekend for me on the gantry for Counties .
Hung up eight fish , three of which were not the run of the mill strippies .

222kg blue marlin from the 120 mtr mark off the Manukau .

104 kg broadie caught " somewhere " out the west coast .

This guy jumped into a meatball and speared a 95kg fish from forum member Dunworking's boat .

Was busy out there Saturday.
Those that say it can't be done are being overtaken by those doing it.

Cheers AL a cool couple days out and 2 more cherries popped with a tag and release on Friday too but that speared one will certainly go down as on of the most special fish for us and first marlin for the spearo.

Some amazing footage was shot and will be worth a watch when it’s edited and ready in a few weeks.

Follow reef hunter channel on YouTube and you will be in for a treat when the video launches.

All I can say is anyone jumping in for a swim out wide and taking on a marlin has some big kahunas.

All the boats in the area were really good and gave us room so big thanks to all that gave way.
