Have been out thru Kaipara North channel.  60m was dead , but managed to fill up in hour at 32m - good size snaps.
Decided to troll up to 100m depth to look for alby/skippy, but no luck at all.  Similar experience from another boatie.  Max temp was 19.1 degrees.
When can we expect to see the tuna and game fish ????

The two weeks before Xmas often sees a marlin caught out west. It won't happen earlier if no one tries. Good on you for giving it a shot

Why do I get the idea that the west is still very quiet?
Previous seasons, the albacore showed up by now. Are there any tuna out west or did Sanford clean up?

Our local community pages on FB sometimes post photos of tuna boats anchored off Cornwallis wharf, so not cleaned up yet

We got two yesterday and lost one. All in closer. Didn't try too hard to be fair and all hooked on cheap kahawai lures.

Went out the Manukau yesterday , shot out to the 130 bit north and then worked our way back down slowly into 80 south  by afternoon . Slow on the marlin side of things. Had a sun bather marlin we went past , it kicked into life and had a sniff of the long rigger port side and swam off . Filled the bin with skippies and alberts . The dolphins loved the dredge .
Saw one whale at 110 m . Was a few caught in the morning , dont know where but sure it  wasnt deep   and south a bit ? There is a few out there

Sounds a plan, if that don't look good, can then go north or south.
We got that same idea.

I am loaded and ready to go in morning  as well. Little concerned sea conditions are forecast  slightly over a meter.  Do you guys reckon it will be ok?

We pulled pin and didn’t go west, just wasn’t confident enough in forecast. No doubt it is awesomely calm out there.
Went east side this morning off east coast bays instead.  No marlin ... but we did manage couple of nice kings livebaiting, as well as other assorted snapper, gurnard and Trev on little jigs and home by 11.30 am.
Hope those that ventured out had a good day and look forward to few reports.

A very slow day for us. Crossed at 7am through a bit of a jostle. Wind calmed during the morning. Went to 80m and then headed north through to 100m, then back south along the 100m line back to home. Saw a school of sauri but that was it. Ran 2 tuna lures but nothing. very quiet.
