I suspect the SBT run is starting wind down so we may start seeing people head out west Embarrassed

Scotty Bell, Tex and Vance Barrett pulled a sicky to try give the first marlin of the season a crack. No marlin so far but 3 YFT, first day trolling for Brutus.

looks like sashimi tonight.
I dont know what you guys use - but there is a NZ (Canterbury) Wasabi - the real stuff, that I use.
Waay better than anything else I have used.
Google Copperfield - or something similar. Awesome with YF.
Good start to the season. Wish they would come further south. Don't happen anymore.

Got that guy couple of days ago - Vtu. Thats about as big as they get right now - big guys moved off. Got on a popper. If you see a work up or get into them on skirts - try poppers. Deadly.

Bfist,

North and west coast.

Things are happening two months early .

And for the west, a rare catch.

Dunworkin, the commercial tuna fleet (well 4 boats leaving Onehunga) are fishing at900m. They are seeing 3 or 4 free jumping marlin a day. Hope you have a huge fuel tank. I also hope you catch one!

Ohhh yeah! If they are seeing that many way out, there will still be fish in closer for sure. My 'informant' reckons lures in at 200

Be aware of the crossing and out wide.

I'd like to be wrong as we cancelled our trip.

But it maybe a short uncomfortable bar crossing window and a short sea state.

Fishable but uncomfortable.

Hope I'm wrong and you guys may prove great results.

If your out..

Go cable zone or the north eddies.

Wide to 700m shows current influence .

Or if your smart, you'd of bought into Paul's info.

Just saying.
