To be fair Ute drivers are very touchy if anything negative is said about their ute...
And how they think they own the road, and everyone else has to get out of their way...

When I'm a ute owner in a few days I'm going to have stern words to everyone who disagrees with me. And stay off my road! Clown

Im not trying to put a damper on this thread at all!

I love talking about cars and boats n stuff - it was merely an observation about how much interest Smudges question had generated
No disintegrations!

 Its a matter of perception..
there are far more utes on the roads now...so more aggressive drivers in them..no more than what where before..
Also it works like this..
You stop off on a road trip at a suburb supermarket on a city..notice it is busy, and also a few scruffy or even a couple patches...
The impression you get left with is a unruly gang town..regardless if they too are passing thru...
Yet it may just be a few hunters or fishermen passing or even tradies getting lunch.
The only correct perception would be that it is busy.

Now that we live in a town (not the city) with far more utes than cars, the instances of aggression one sees is near always out of towners bring an impatient city attitude.

But yes I to notice a small number of rather aggressive ute drivers, usually in black utes and all the fancy 'Im tuff guy' addons they will never use. Mostly likely the same idiots who used to drive a car.

Yip, that old chestnut

Are you Bounty Hunters lap dog?

Wtf are you on about? It's merely an observation that discussing tow vehicles is a popular subject and will continue to be for a long time I'd predict. Alot of the posts are opinions, not necessarily facts, including my own.

Given our very poor performance on emissions I think it is very likely this will get put in place.  The government will be keen to prove that they do have some green credentials, and they need to keep the greens sweet.  In reality I don't think it will make much difference, given the price of the "gas guzzlers" they are talking about penalising an extra 2-3k won't make much difference.

I'd be more concerned about where it will end up.  For example in the UK the road tax payable for a vehicle depends on its CO emissions, so it isn't just an upfront cost on new vehicles but an extra charge every year for vehicles that pollute most.

Yep...At this point is just discussions where they take this and how. That could either be positive or a mess like a lot of the 'populist' legislation of the current government (kiwi build, fire arms, student loans.. list goes on and on.)

I've had a few new company cars and lots of new motorcycles but never a new car. What are you getting RB?

Spend say $40/ $45K on a new non mainstream.. that includes nudge bars, steps, canopy, stone deflector, monsoons etc...you are still going to drop (and most likely less) in real dollar value..

I just wanted to follow this up... I went and had a look at the runout deal on the pre-facelift Tritons, and you can drive one away for $36k, with a decent number of option boxes ticked.

Which completely turns the "non-mainstream" option on it's head Confused

Heard the latest? After they have fished with gun owners they are going after Ute owners.   Compulsory buy back at 70% of market value, only hybrids allowed, bull bars, canopy's etc not compensated for.LOL
THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF FISHERMAN, THOSE WHO FISH FOR SPORT AND THOSE THAT CATCH SOMETHING.
