Had a 40kg Y/F on last yr - about 5m under boat - near ready to gaff. marlin came and whacked it then came back to take it. The Y/F gave up fighting and ran for refuge right under the hull. Easy gaff. I think it preferred its chances in the boat than under it.

I was fishing up at the same area (Harbour island) 2 days ago and got a nice blue in a similar way. Followed a hooked MahiMahi in and then took a livebait we pitched at it.
