What engine? Some have dual charging circuits and some don't. It is pretty simple but need all the info.

That engine probably doesn't have a 2nd charging circuit so you need a VSR. BEP make a standard VSR twin battery cluster so one of those, a battery and a couple of cables you are good to go. You can do it cheaper with just a battery switch and no VSR but then you need to remember to switch back and forwards between batteries etc.

Thanks for the Info. Sorry havnt been totaly open about the subject as I do have a bit of knowledge on the subject an was aware of the VSR thingy.  My sparky down here quoted about a 2 hundy for the switch an I thought I may shake out some more info an photos etc off this site. Usely one can pick up stuff like this via the net sometimes a bit cheaper.   Cheers.

If that is $200 installed that is pretty fair. Don't think you will get it much cheaper unless you do it yourself but then you will need the crimping tool etc

the VSR unit should have a wiring diagram included in the installation instructions (BEP ones do)

I used the BEP unit, 2 batter switches, 1 to combine and a VSR. It took a bit to get my head around the wiring as I was also adding a drum winch, but not too tricky.
Just make sure you use a proper lever crimping tool and adhesive lined heatshrink.
