BLACK MARLIN - 1431 pounds
Its official!
Gold Coast boat "Too Easy" captained by Russel Gage has just weighed in their big black marlin at 1431 pounds. The weigh was done in Urangan this afternoon after "To Easy" made the trek down from Lady Musgrave Island, just north of Fraser Island. The catch seems to confirm a 2nd, more southern spawning ground for East Coast black marlin. Capt. Russell Gage confirmed that this huge female came into the lure spread light-up electric blue and surrounded by an escort of several small males before taking the short-corner lure. Once on deck, the fully ripe spawning female was oozing eggs. The marlin's ovaries will be extracted and forwarded to Dr Julian Pepperelland will be a break through in scientific research for this species.
