HAD A PERSON PULL OUT FROM THIS TRIP SO ONE SPACE AVAILABLE.
Leave Auck evening of Sat 23rd Feb and travel through the night to start fishing at daybreak on the 24th. We will fish wherever the fish are between Tutukaka and North Cape over the next 5 days but very likely going at least as far north as the Garden Patch area if not right up to the Cape. Weather permitting we will likely have a fish for Broadbill whilst up in the right areas. Where we end up depends on where the fish are holding best. We will return to either Opua or Tutukaka on the evening of the 28th where a minibus will be waiting to take you back to Auckland.
I have put together a good deal for this forum trip so PM me if you are interested. Whilst mainly a Marlin trip we will spend some time chasing big Snapper, Puka, and Kingis as well as Marlin, Tuna and Swords so you will get a pretty good experience.
I posted the other day about having room for a couple more group booking game fishing charters next March/April. I then had a couple of inquiries from individual anglers looking for places on a trip.
So, if I find 3 or 4 more people I will put a 'forum trip' together.
Right now I have a little flexibility in dates still, but likely last week of March or 1st week of April. Prime time for the Marlin and the Puka/Snapper etc are always there.
I have put a deal together for this Forum trip so if you want more info just PM me on here with your mobile number and we can have a chat about it.
Depends on what the crew want. but most likely we will mix up the game fishing with chasing some big Snaps and deep dropping for Puka etc. We can do more of one and less of the others etc as the group prefer. Cape Maria van Diemen is on the list to visit if the guys are keen and the weather allows.
Some forum members with catches below. In order -
Biggear with a BOI 24lber from my favourite BOI Snapper spot. I picked up a 16lber a few minutes earlier. He also caught 2 Marlin on the same trip but his first 20lber was the highlight
Then Raging Bull with the trifecta of a Snapper. Marlin, & Puka. I think we released the Snap without weighing it, but it must be there or thereabouts.
Next guy we rescued from his Rayglass so he could land this 206kg Blue. Friend of one of my crew. He took it home and won the contest he was fishing. Turned up at the boat when we were back in Auckland with a bottle of single malt like all appreciative fellas should do.
Next one is just a nice pic of the gear all set. Locked and loaded! Never gets old.
Last pic is a friend on her first game fishing trip. Got a Stripy on the first day and a 25kg Puka on the 2nd. Got a few smaller ones as well. An hour before she landed the Stripy she was wandering around in her nightie as we left harbour. Not many get their first Marlin 2 or so hours into their first trip. 25kg Puka was on her first Puka drop the following day. Hasn't been out again. Reckons it is too easy!
