Any predictions for weather tomorrow Matt.swell map was way off today for Cape Brett.wind got right up.looking at heading queens buoy tomorrow.

I would never be so presumptuous as to call weather.

Hell even those paid to do it get ridiculed.
Personally I don't see why.
There not gods.
It's Mother Nature.

I do use for myself a few formats.
Metservice, swell map, and predict wind.
That gives me six versions of the picture.

It's your own assessment from there.

And finally sticking your nose out having a gander and making your call fluid.
Fluid because only the dead or the lucky make the hard nose calls.

And as you did ask, if your in a tinny, no.

If your in a large launch, it'll be lumpy and hardish to fish.

But what do I know about weather, I'm just a fisherman.

You should of asked me were to fish.

Some of the best fishing I have ever had has been when it is blowing 30knts and puffing more. Might not be as relaxing, but the fish often seem to bite better with a decent sea running. One trip a few years back we fished in 30's and a bit of 40+ and had 5 or 6 fish caught over a few days before we saw another boat out on the water. Big seas won't wreck the fishing as long as you can handle them safely in your boat.

Bigger seas aren't harder to fish in a good launch, just makes getting the fish to the boat a bit more interesting, and you might need a good towel afterwards if you haven't been nice to the skipper that day!! Hopefully my teams for our Feb trips will remember that small detail!! Those that don't better fish in their raincoats.

That is wholly true for many fishing styles.
I've often wondered wether the highly agitated water is a catalyst for a more intense bite.
Tough on the fisherman but if your willing and attuned to it and it's a safe result.
Well all good.

Here is the view out my back door this morning looking from jacks bay over to Orakawa bay and Topeka in the distance. Unfortunately my fishing pass has expired so I’m checking out of my flotel this morning and back to reality and the trusty 5.5
We ran out to the 250 mark in search of a bit of water that had all the signs of holding something
Around the 380 mark we landed a nice SB spear going 26.2 just 600gm short of the toots club record.
Nothing else seen by us. Temp got to 22.3
Heard Warren aboard Victoria land his stripy in 280 off the red head, well done to him. First fish for the new Bertram and 50th fish for his team I believe.
I agree we may have been overlooking the traditional closer spots to get into the blue water, if I had another day today I would stay closer.

Blue water/green water/ brown water??
Once we were fishing between the Garden Patch and N Cape and there was a big patch of dirty green/brown water we were avoiding but had to go through it to get to Tom Bowling.
2 stripies in 30 minutes plus a possible Blue lost to broken mainline.

@Mattoo I got a SB on the 19th in 400m east of the knights, @supermodel, as I am not a member of the toots club, however I weighed my SB in there do I get counted towards the record? (new to game fishing).

If you are a member of a Fishing Club, then send your weigh sheet to your club.
If you aren't a member of any club then it will only be recorded as a weigh-in for thee Tutukaka club.

Eating it fresh primarily (pan fried) and smoked up a few kgs of it, both taste rather good. I found a couple of small broadfin squid in it, overall length would have been about 150mm.

Nice one Macka. Lovely fish from great looking boat. I'm probably out this Saturday.. boat is Obsession ... looks similar to yours if you're out and about give me a call on radio. Those spears are great fish to catch and eat and that one you caught is a really nice one.
