9-10ft 6-8kg rated would by pick Daiwa and Shimano both do suitable models now. Use whatever softbait you want, big fish eat 3 inch baits too.

That is a nice rod

Otherwise there are Shimano Revolution models about in the 8-10ft range. Daiwa I forgot the model name but the BAF boys were using them off the boat, god only knows why. Make sure you go spin don't be thinking clever and go baitcast. LOL Shimano 4000-5000 size reel or Daiwa 3000 would be mint.

That's a mint looking rod, Muppet. I have the 8' Hearty Rise from Greg and it's awesome to use, quality components. That shore jig rod would be awesome for light top water in estuaries and harbours etc as well.

Tnak, check out this vid from Michael Jenkins, who used to write a lot of posts on the forum, years ago.

And check out this old thread on land based soft baiting (featuring Mr Jenkins' advice re rods, reels, leader etc)

And this excellent article in NZ Fishing World

Did you get a rod yet?

Best one I seen so far is the 10ft 6-10kg Abu Veritas. Really good not expensive.

Could easily switch to bait on it.
