Anyone collect and eat them? I always see lots when I'm failing to catch a crayfish!

Grab one and try it...Wink
Do not put it in with any other food...
Lets say it an aquired taste... I have also tried the cats eyes yrts ago... have become popular to have a limit now, those I put on the aquired taste list as well.
Thats from someone who will try anything, and finds most things edable platable or better..
kina, raw fish hearts, livers, brains (cooked) roe, possum casserole, pukeko stew, small birds caked in clay.. whole and cooked in the embers......

lol ...fish eyes cooked or other wise .. no those put in the cooks turbon/ cats eyes.. but the eyes from a roasted pigs head.. thay are ok.
The best venson ever had was in the St island back in late 60s.
We got a little 'lost' and bit hungry.. found a dead pretty bloated up hind 1/2 in a stream... once cut into the hind quarters, cut  some rump steaks out...taking into account hungry.. was melt in the mouth.
Did the old english pheasant thing yrs ago... hang by the neck on a shaded branch till near falling off.. fell off when we took it down... that too was melt in the mouth.
Rem fridge/ freezers, chiller are a modern invention..stilo rem the vented  kitchen safe cupboards..
If it is edible.. try it.. one day you maybe in a situation... and if spend ones life turning the nose up when proverbial hits the fan, the stomach will churn at the thought before, rather than maybe at the 1st mouthful, which often turns out very damn nice.Wink
