Anyone had experience with replacing these? We are looking at purchasing a hybrid for our Daughter but don't want to get bitten if the battery craps out. Cheers

Probably a specialist job. Battery voltage on mine about 480 volts. (Make your hair stand on end and kill you.) I don't think there are many batteries available yet. Prius may be the exception. I think one option is to check battery health and replace cells which are faulty. What make / type hybrid? Battery should last about 9 years depending on number of charges. The 12 volt batteries seem to suffer in some hybrids, they are pretty normal except for tube to vent their hydrogen gas away from main battery.

My 2 cents worth. Buying an older hybrid is a false economy. Battery electric tech is still in its infancy and developing and improving fast, that means 10 year old vehicles are far inferior to a modern vehicle.

By contrast although ICEs are still improving the curve is a lot shallower.

If you are buying a 10 year old car get a petrol one, your imagined saving in gas with a hybrid won’t be worth the poor performance, likely battery issues and attendant costs.

I have a fuga 6 years old now. Battery is perfect according latest nissan checkup.
The Fuga has 370hp and 546nm torque and 7 speed gearbox Can do 0 to 100km close to 5 sec. 2012 it was in Guiness Book of records as the fastest hybrid in the world (badged infiniti). Not lacking in performance.

Is that the 3.7 liter V6 or 4.5 liter V8, MM?

Ive been thinking of a Toyota Harrier hybrid as they are a very comfortable car (I have a petrol one at the moment) and being larger, more comfort on trips and safer for my wife. Do hybrids have the same battery "warnings" or would they last longer?

Best official figures I have seen 50 miles to 1 gal imp. The Nissan spin is economy of a 4 cyl and performance of V8. The electric motor runs about 50% of time (petrol turns off, two clutches) so petrol engine has done about 50% of shown mileage. Probably be a pain to park they are quite long. The hybrid only comes 3.5 but there may be a V8 hybrid variant in Japan

Infiniti sell Q70(Fuga) and Q50(Skyline) hybrids in Australiaand sell Q50 hybrid in NZ. So Nissan should be able to get replacement battery easy enough. They all use a smaller version of Nissan leaf battery.

Sorry not familiar with Toyota Harrier hybrid but there is plenty of info on Toyota Prius and their batteries. I think Prius use nicam batteries which have been outdated by lithium chloride (lighter and more powerful). Toyota do bring in replacement batteries for their cars unlike Nissan who do not supply batteries for leafs in NZ, I believe.

My wife had a Lexus RX300 when we lived in the states. It was a comfy cross over. I drove an RX400H a few times and the hybrid had some get good get up n go
