JT Yakker wrote: Thanks for the advice guys. I've done a little bit of digging based on your recommendations and sought to compare those reels with a couple parameters for the selection - available in NZ and max drag equal to or greater than 15 kg. At this stage the Maxel F30CH is a front runner for me but I must admit that the F30CH spool capacity is a bit on the light side.

laidbackdood wrote: Do the maxel make all that whirring noise like the jm? .....i hated that. I like the jiggers with cals plate and the smooth drag carbontex drag washers.......bloody smooth drag(20kg drag with washers for 4000/5000)......i used it nicely for live baiting as well..... owned two jm reels and didnt like either of em.....had probs with my pe6.....plus they were never lucky for me.......strange how that works lol.......the pe6 was very good at catching red snapper for some reason ! and my ocea jigger 5000P/jigstar 450(original/mark one) was my lucky set up....caught some great fish on that set up.....the action on that rod is sweet too.
