Hmmm - Len Brown was given a $5000 farewell gift for his service (does that include bonking over Mayoral desk?) - what would you have given him?
To be honest I don't have that good a view of him and have mixed feelings about this and as a rate payer - nah!

Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

Wow $5000 I'm shocked and stunned!!!! I'm actually surprised it wasn't more like $25K given counsel's/local government's lack of respect for our money.
Tight lines

I think there are many Aucklanders who would have happily paid much more to see the back of Len Brown, but to be fair I think whoever the first mayor was would have been saddled with blame for the very poor setup of the supercity and all the inevitable problems that there would be.  Getting caught out bonking his mistress in council chambers probably didn't do him many favours either.

The bigger question I have about this parting gift is who got paid $5,000 to provide the tokotoko, seems like a lot to me   http://themaorishop.co.nz/gifts/tokotoko

Thank god he has gone! I would have paid $5K out of my own pocket to have him piss off earlier
What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.

Well you guys voted for a Socialist and you got higher taxes, increased regulation, a bloated bureaucracy and ineffective governance. What else did you expect?

Hmmmm. Very much the same modus operandi as the Governemnt of the day has been practicing over the last nine odd years. Openly show savings yet behind closed doors have increased indirect taxes, costs for services and initiated many more inquiries and working groups. What they have done is give publicly with one hand and taken it back by stealth with the other. Thanks to our present Governemnt, our debt per head of population is on a par with Greece and you are worried about socialists in local Government?

Don't let the facts get in the way v8, debt per capita in NZ is one third of debt per capita in Greece.
