Game-fishing reports, updates, pics in this thread and here's to another cracker of a season. which is UNDERWAY!!!  The yellowfin are here folks.

This from Bonze lures page:

The Bonze D Shackle starting the season off well with a couple of nice tuna!!! Best be getting your gear ready and get out there!!!

"D Shackle did the damage today. Out the bay..... Loads of flying fish and birds. Had something hit the rigger first that was ripping line out with massive head shakes before it started to peel the reel out and then while that was happening the yellow fin hit the other 2 lures. the one that hit the rigger first fell off while I was playing the first tuna. Not sure what it was. Needed more arms and legs haha"

i dived the nine pin today. It was really cold but there were lots of boil ups between nine pin and redhead. Bay feels like it starting to happen.
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

Sort of released our first game fish today between the Whale & 9pin - a 2m mako sniffing around our berley pot with a circle hook in the corner of its mouth & trailing 5-6m of heavy leader. Ray managed to grab the leader & in the ensuing mayhem it bit off the leader before we could cut it free. Both pectorals had been quite badly damaged, but the mako didn't seem too fussed, & even came back in another couple of times after we freed it up. Fearless fish.

Water still cold as KeriBOI noted. Couldn't find the big schools of anchovies from a couple of weeks ago, & the workups we saw out there were all terns. Sounds like the gannets might have been out wider Wink Well done on the early-season 'fin - sounds like it might have been a solo angler ?

100 metres of the cape at 13:45 should have been pulling plastic today a tide line that appeared to run dead stariht from Cavallis to Poor Knights that I could see. Looks of birds about.
Tide line temp crossing the line went from 17to 18.5 degrees

Correction.
On closer inspection, i think they look more like big eye as do the pics of others caught this week.
The following link is a really useful guide the differences.
