Its time that people such as this environmentalist are recognised for awards, does more than the likes of those Sandford individuals who got some self appointed sustainability award or some of those who get New Zealander of the Year.

Great story Al.

How do you go about nominating a bloke like that for a gong?

Seems like such an unassuming bloke too - very cool.

Getting the recognition he deserves may help him getting future funding for his project....

Well done Fraser - thanks for the link.

My nomination is in.
I nominated Local Hero, but you guys decide for yourself.

There is a bit of a drama trying to fill in all his details etc. as I don't know this guy from a bar of soap, but I contacted a very efficient person in Takapauna who can do the nomination on your behalf.

Just need to have your name and contact details.

Here is the info below.

Drop her an e-mail and nominate Bill Kerrison.
I also added the link to this video so she could see what i was on about.

Lets try do something for this bloke as a collective group on here - really think he deserves some recognition for this.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Thumbs Up

What an awesome bloke giving his time to save those eel's and fish. That's exactly the type of person that deserves an award. Good on him

Thanks for that guys.  My nomination is going in right now.

Bloody work got in the way of making my submission earlier today. I should nominate my wife for putting up with me all these years!  God knows she is a patent woman!! Big smile

Thanx Jaapie & Fraser for initiating the process, which hopefully will be successful as a result.
Towards that aim, perhaps it would be helpful to co ordinate the category in which to lodge the nomination from the choice below :-

Please advise what category:

New Zealander of the Year

Young NZer of the Year

Senior NZer of the Year

Community Group of the Year

Innovator of the Year

Local Hero of the Year

Personally I chose either of the two ( in red ) above as being the most appropriate & stand the best chance of being successful.

Apparently you are allowed to chose both, so that is what I did.

Yeah Capt. so did I altho I think only one can qualify for final selection
& presumably it will be the category that receives the most nominations.
