Was thinking of fishing the Tongariro on Friday, does any body know if it will be fishable after all this rain and are there any fish biting?
Cheers

I usually have a look on the Sporting Life website for updates, however, they haven't put a report up for about a week. Also you can check the flow rate at

https://www.genesisenergy.co.nz/tongariro-riverflow-release

I'd say it looks like they've missed much of the bad weather. River seems to be flowing at a very slightly higher than normal rate

Always plenty of fish to be had on that river.

cheers

I think that levels should be just about perfect on Friday. Go for it!

Follow Ross's report Tongariro River Motel - google it. Updated each day usually.
Also check Greig sports report and there are a few guides that do updated reports periodically.
Basically though with all this rain should be good fishing.

Ha, just trying to plan something now mate! I like it from about Sept-Dec tho, but can't hold out that long, so in a few weeks maybe, got a new camera to test!

Its amazing how you manage to  get such quality fish footage in a heavily fished river like that. Look forward to it - and no pressure!

Andrew could pull fish out of a puddle on the highway, so no need for we lesser mortals to feel inadequate !

Possibly not .... a mere damp patch would probably suffice.
