Awesome report Will! Clap Feeling your frustration there with those fussy fish. I'm not sure what's in their heads when they go like that. Sure is tough when you experience it though.

And I laughed at what the big fish did to you. It was just swimming around squeezing your fly in its crushing plates, probably wondering why it was getting no juice out of it LOL

Shame though. I hope you get another shot at a world record beater.

The nice thing about bonefishing in Aitutaki is that every day is different Thumbs Up

for some strange reason I can't get the video to work no matter what I try. It just says video unavailable. Odd.

Great to read your report and to hear that a good number of fish were about. It hurts loosing a huge fish, but that's what calls us back. Best of luck next time

Just don't look at the weather forecast this week up there! You're a brave man! Casting downwind should be easy 😊

I must admit when its not windy on Aiutaki i miss the wind and my casting nt as good, as long as you can get the wind working for you on your last cast id call it an aid.
Hey good luck out there. The worst day on Aitutaki is better than the best day in the city :).

Yup. Sure does. I think the worst I ever felt heat-wise has Gibson Desert and cloudless/windless day on CXI in first equal position. Both were just energy sapping.

(Thanks for the heads up on the kevlar Warren, got it in, job done!)

Brilliant mate! I hope it works out for you and you can provide photos of at least one GT!

Nick, if the swell gets up and the atoll fills up with water check out the quarry flat. It is virtually dry most of the time but can fish well when the 'tide' is in.

Pleased to report that forecasters seem universally inept. A week of mostly great weather (windy, yes) and we fished every day. (The one day the guides called it off I went out and had 7 bone strikes for 6 fish landed - that was blind fishing, I call it fishing to the conditions as there was zero viz...).

I crossed swords with only 1 geet this year and spooked him, but had bonefish redemption with a good number landed over 8 days. One of our party fished for, hooked and landed a large Trigger as well, which as far as Etu knew was a first for he island. Definitely a first for his operation.

Another epic trip, good company, lots of rum, roof lifting off our house, scooter tumbles, hornet stings, coconut crab hunting... shots to follow at some stage Beer
