hey guys wondering if there is anything out there to protect the split butts on some of my rods?

would prefer something clear, maybe a shrink wrap or tape?

cheers in advance.

Heat shrink or the likes. Available some tackle shops or electrical stores.
Not seen clear. I use diamond heat shrink in black.

I believe JA Russells carry clear heat shrink in a variety of sizes, you could try them.

Most electrical wholesallers carry clear heat shrink but not going to be easy to get it off latter. I have been giving this some thought as I have just got a Synit rod with a split butt & am thinking of wrapping it with a specific electrical tape called self amalgimation tape. Not your regular electrical tape. I think it will protect the blank & come off without leaving too much residue.
I will update here once I've given it a go.

I got a nice piece of split EVA tubing with my synit, protects it well. Pretty sure you could get some EVA tubing from anywhere that sells rod building stuff and make one.

Wouldn't recommend that hockey stick tape, was it Mazon shaft guard by any chance? leaves a horrible residue that is impossible to get off a hockey stick and imagine it would be worse on a fishing rod. It's also very thick and not that flexible for the small curvature of a blank

Yeah AJ it's very stretchy infact you have to stretch it to get it to adhere. The problem with heat shrink is you have to get it over the thick part of the butt & then getting it shrink down enough.
