Maybe the first one of the saltwater flyflingers section…
For a start I found quite appropriate to make it about “The one fly”.
The theme:
You’re told you go fishing shallow harbour/coastal waters in a temperate environment, with a 7-8wt fly rod.
You don’t know anything about where or when.
You’re only allowed to pack one fly, “The one fly”.
That’s what you’ll have to tie for this swap, it has to be a baitfish, beside that I don’t put any restrictions on materials or techniques, it doesn’t have to be a mass produceable pattern, all it has to be is that fly you’ll rely on without second thoughts.
I know that some of you will instantly scream “green clouser minnow”; come on guys: it’s a fly swap, we can get a bit more creative than that.
For what’s about the organisation we’ll try to keep it as simple and smooth as possible:
1: If you are interested make it known right here.
2: Limit for signing up is may 7th If anyone else is interested we'll just ask current participants for approval.
3: The flies are to be sent to me by June 1st.
For everyone’s enjoyment please make sure before signing up that you can make it! (it means that you have to have the time to get the materials, tie the flies and send them to me before then…)
4: The number of participants is limited to 12 on that one.
5: Each participant will send me his flies and include 10$ for the return shipping of the flies via NZpost Registeredpost (bank transfer might be the easiest way)
6: If you can put little toe tag on each file you tie that helps prevent any potential screw up due to a storm going thru my house while sorting them.
7: May 7th I will send a message to each participant individually to tell the final number of participants, number of lies to tie, my postal address and any potential updates.
8: When you send your flies please let me know and send me in private message a short intro about your fly (particularities, what design details are intended to get what effect, any cool anecdote or history related to it…) and the recipe.
9: I will confirm reception of the flies as they arrive.
10: When I have all the flies I will try to make a good set of photos and use the description you sent me to make a nice individual post for each (let me know if you prefer the recipe to be kept out of the post and sent by PM to the participants only)
11: As soon as that is done I put all the fly assortments in the envelopes and return it to each one of you.
12: Hopefully you receive a whole bunch of cool flies that don’t include yours!
That’s for the theory, if anything screws up we’ll make it up!
Happy tying.

Great
minds think alike Paul!! Besides there is nothing worse than finding that a
particular fly works a treat only to lose one and not have a template to knock
a few more off? 12 fly’s each then boys?
