Cheap does not means bad quality - expensive does not means that they are better quality. High price meaning you are paying for brand, advertising, distribution, marketing etc. We sells braid and they are as good as any braids with fraction of the price compared to power pro, WHY? easy because retails needs money to cover for rental, expenses, leases, distributors right, advertisement bla bla bla.

The braids we have for sale is the braids we use for our own fishing too, have never disapoint us before

A friend of mine bought some from a seller on trade me and I just laughed harder every time I wrapped some around my hand and snap, another length, snap and so on. Be careful who you deal with and what you buy off trade me, just my 2 cents.

Sounds really bad if it snap that easily - your friend should make a complaint and sue the seller for misleading of products description Wink

I bought some 60lb off TM a while ago. From Oz. Spectra I think it's called. And it does fray badly when used through conventional rod eyes. I dont believe it is weak otherwise though. But once it's frayed it is certainly weak and taught me a lesson today when I lost a very nice Kingi when it snapped at a weak point. A roller tip may help reduce the wear on the braid but I don't think I'll buy any more of it.

Indeed... the price difference is basically the amount you'd spend on a days worth of bait, and wouldn't it be better knowing that you had a reputable brand of braid when you latch into that elusive trophy sized fish, than spend the whole time sweating about whether your line is gonna hold or not. With a good brand of braid, if you do have problems with it, you can take it back to the shop and get some satisfaction at least.
BAsically it is the same as the buying reels from distributors/importers here in NZ, or getting them sent in from overseas, and not knowing for sure what they'll be like, and without any sort of local backup.

And although I like a good braid alot (for the experience mainly - net results are pobably the same)there's little wrong with mono in most situations.

Before Xmas there was a guy selling Power Pro braid on TradeMe.  I bought 2 reels of 300m of 10lb rainbow braid for about $70 for both.  I've used it for over a month, maybe 8 sessions, and been really pleased with it on a Shimano catana 2500 eggbeater reel.  I really like the colours.  I spool up with about 150m of braid, and count the colours off as I'm fishing.  When the bait's out the back, I let up to 8 colours go (80m) and retrieve & start again.  Costing under $20 for 150m of braid, so a real good deal.  I've had no knot failures at the braid to mono leader join, so very pleased with it's knot strength.  And I'm not being paid by the seller!

Of course, I'll know more after a year.  I've got some Berkley Fireline 8lb that has faded and looks a little ragged, but still good after a year, still in active use, at least once a week.

I dabbled with some of the auctions for the Spectra braid ex Aus.  Had my doubts about that stuff, & wasn't keen to pay top dollar for it.
Far Quirk - I'm goin' fishn!
