Its probably cheaper to get another unit like the Raymarine dragonfly which has down scan imaging and run one as a plotter and the other as a fish finder.

you'll need a structure scan module unit to plug in to your unit and the structure scan 'ducer. The HDS Gen 2 have the module built in.

Only the HDS 'Touch' have structure scan built in, the HDS Gen2 units still require a structure scan  LSS1 or LSS2 module, network cables if you want to link units (expensive for what they are!!) and LSS1 or LSS2 transducer. LSS2 is the later of the components.

it seems alot better of an idea just to buy a separate unit

Depends if you just want to add 'Downscan' or if you want full 'Structure Scan' which is 'Downscan' AND 'Side-Scan' combined.

If you are just after the Downscan your options are basically to buy a new head unit (as your link). If you are after 'Structure Scan' you will need the LSS1 or LSS2 module + transducer + Ethernet cable as mentioned above.

Another option that means you only require 1 transducer is to look at the Elite 7 HDI. This has your standard sonar and 'Downscan' built into the unit and a single transducer.

Cheers.
