hi guys, i have recently bought a shimano setup a catana rod, and sedona 4000fd reel, i am wondering what are your thoughts on this rod/reel combo... is it any good? i fish from the rocks with 30pound Fuze braid do you think it will be able to handle bigish snapper/kingi's?? i have caught a few kahawai on it and they came in easily, and 1 stingray, but i want to know if it will handle the big fish????

The gear will handle big snapper, but a big kingie will probably give the braid a hard time on the rocks, so my advice woould be not to run a hell heavy drag if you get a kingfish on.

mono is better off the rocks in my opinion, braid better off a boat simply due to the braid has very low abrasion resistance when scraped against rocks. but on a reel that size hoping to target kings you will need all the line you can. good luck. if the braid is already on it , go for it and see how many it slays
