In years not so long ago a thread amping up the expectations for the Houhora comp would have started about three weeks ago. Times and people change.

All a bit different this year; Wednesday to Saturday (I think) as opposed to the other way round. First day's fishing is next Wednesday. 8 sleeps or something equally silly.

But as a public service:

Who's doing the Houhora comp this year?

Tagit will have on board the eponymous owner, Boulder, Beagle, BigGear and myself. Fishing in from Whangaroa. Never fished in to a comp before. Sounds rather grand does it not? 'We'll be fishing in from Sierra Leone; port out, starboard home'

As an aside, Dead Ant and I had a very good day weasel training today. Getting the little chap used to Tagit's flybridge, putting him through his paces, splitting a couple of his COM ports to see if liked a bit of data coming at him from all angles, a few mid season beep tests; all the usual stuff. Wink

Eponymous: giving one's name to a tribe, place, etc.: Romulus, the eponymous founder of Rome.

David, is there a specific word for one who always finds the perfect word? Are we now members of the Tagit tribe?

Looking at the long range swell predictions, Ahipara might be the secret alright. For the first day anyway.

Kezza, I wouldn't want to be going to the Kings in a 20 knot SE though.

Obald and Tagit - thanks for sending down one very frazzled looking Deadant who arrived on Tuesday night just in time for chilli fish (gurnard). I took him out yesterday and completed de-stressed him (and will let him report on that).

To say that I am looking forward to Houhora HUGELY would be an understatement of behemothic proportions.

Curried striped marlin.... mmmmmmm.

I strongly resemble that remark!
But not as much as Biggear does, despite his protestations.
